ELCS Recommended watch-list!
enjoy these in no particular order, by yourself or with friends! (it's always nice to have someone to discuss the themes and ideas you're being confronted with, but its also always nice to just unwind and have a little bit of escapism from time to time, not too much tho as that can lead to a bit of a media-dependency that the ruling class wants you to develop, bread and circuses and all that jazz innit)
Rating system is simple, but not really meaningful, taste is subjective. Rating system sort of just shows how much of a must watch it is.

- *** a grumbling gambling addict with a deteriorating homelife who happens to also be a Pscyhologist discovers a bit of of a sense of purpose in life as he begins to help the police solve a series of horrific crimes (I first watched the whole show at age 10, it fucked me up). Starring Robbie Coltrane before he came out as a defender of chief TERF JK Rowling (a shame ik, but please try to look past that as this show is indeed great).

- Sorcerer (1977)
- ***** ELCS's favourite Friedkin film. With a great original score by tangerine dream. A spiritual remake of Wages of Fear (1953) -- which is a classic in its own right -- based on the book La Salaire de la Peur . In this film, Friedkin DOES NOT hold our hand as 4 crazy people with dodgy pasts try and make a buck by transporting a highly volitale substance through treacherous south american terrain, complete with references to corporate business interests and dictatorial regimes, centring around one of Friedkin's most famous themes -- FATE. Famous for being a self-described one take man, watch in suspense as you look at the absolute INSANE cinematography and CRAZY ASS shots. Trust me, the production stories about this film were insane and like you sometimes wonder how this thing ever got made. One of the last truely great Auteur films. Can't believe it lost to FUCKING STAR WARS as best picture, LUCAS FILM SLOP (not that academy awards mean anything).
